Matrix Management 2.0™ Migration Process

Matrix Management 2.0™ Migration Process

Every organization is at a different level of matrix maturity and moving from one level to the next is an organizational change that requires a structured process for migrating from one level of maturity to another.

MMI has developed a robust migration process based on the Matrix Management 2.0™ Maturity Model that not only supports the creation of a customized solution, but aids organizational development professionals in driving commitment to that solution.

DSD-MA™ — the 5 stages of migration

The migration process has five stages. Each stage results in a key output needed to complete a successful matrix management transformation.

What  happens

The organization’s matrix maturity level is measured as it relates to the Matrix Management 2.0 Operating System. Employing an online Diagnostic Assessment or participating in a Diagnostic Working Session, the organization pinpoints key areas to focus on improving.

Why we need to do it

In order to effect change successfully, understanding not only where you are going, but where you come from, clarifies the level of change the organization is embarking on and what they can manage. By completing the diagnosis stage, you create a proactive approach to migration, but identifying the starting point and resistance factors to successful change.

What happens

Critical decisions regarding the type of organizational management systems and leadership skills needed to deliver the organization’s business strategy are made – this is your organizational strategy.

Why we need to do it

Organizational strategy enables business leaders to understand the level of change needed to position the organizations systems and people to deliver results in the matrix environment.

What happens

Teams participate in working sessions that result in a ready-to-implement design based on the output of the organizational strategy output.

Why we need to do it

Every matrix organization is at a different level of maturity and the approach for migrating will be different. The Design Stage builds out the organizational strategy that has been laid out.

What happens

An implementtion process is developed and the design components are launched.

Why we need to do it

Migration is the launch to the larger audience, and a structured process for handling a change of any magnitude is needed to handle resistance and ensure adoption.

What happens

The migration is reviewed continuously to assure alignment with the organizational strategy.

Why we need to do it

No matter how effectively the organizational system is working when it’s first implemented, things change, and continuous assessment ensures a proactive stance in ensuring the organization’s management system is continually improving like the rest of the organization.
